I have a pair of KC daylighters or hi-lights, or something like that on my
Bronco (I dont really know..I didnt put them there!). They seem great.
Amazingly bright, they didnt look cheap, etc. The only problem with them
that I ever had (besides previous owner’s cheap splices..fixed!) was that
the passenger side light seemed to bounce up and down a little bit.
Thinking this was either just part of aux light systems (never having had
one before) or something like that, I never gave it much attention. Today,
however, I resolved to fix it. I was going to simply tighten it’s mounting
bolt, but it was already tighter than I could manage with my tiny little
crescent. SO I got out a long rachet and took the thing off to have a look
see.
Lo and behold! The inside of the steel case of the light had some rust on
it. It was just surface rust (lucky!) but enough to un-seat the bolt which
A) mounts the light and B) keeps the light adjusted properly. So, I’m
currently stripping the rust off, getting ready to repaint the thing and
going to do its mate also.
So..to those of you who are posting asking about new lights, you may want to
take ‘em apart (I dont know if you can do that to the HID lights…check!!)
and rust proof them beyond how they come. The inside of the bulb dish was
mostly bare of paint even where it was not rusty.
Hopefully this can save someone else from having to fix them later on down
the road.

Just a follow up. They are KC HiLights Daylighters Shockmounted series. KC
has a 23 yr warenty against rust and etc. I shall letcha guys know how it
turns out. I’ve contacted them via Email about the lights. They should
tell me to just send them right back for new ones.

I know KC’s bulbs have a 23 year warranty, I don’t believe the housing
or anything else has anything more than maybe a 1-3 year warranty.

ok, now that’s funny! LOL
They warranty the bulbs longer than they warranty the housing. I knew there
was a reason I never bought from them.

The warenty covers it all…from fading, rusting..even bulb burning out.
Any switches or relays that get fried from their lights get covered as well.
HOWEVER..it excludes second hand owners like me!

i have several sets of kc and dick cepek off road lights that are at least 15
years old, i ve taken them apart twice already and refinished them, new paint,
bolts rubber washers, and replaced a bulb for 4.99, they come out looking like
new, and only take a couple hours time to redo them, it sure is a lot cheaper
cleaning them up then buying new sets of lights

With a couple sets of them around I don’t recall the 23year warranty
specifying lights only… I have a new set (165watt in box, chrome,
if anyone is intereted.. I can’t use them at this point as the place I
was going to mount them won’t work) so I could check for you.
why in the hell did you tell them you where the second owner? btw i
have 2 sets and love them

It was them damm morals of mine. And not reading far enough ahead on their
page to see that only the buyer can collect on their warrenty.
