FAT LADY TIPS!!

Really fat women and seat belts

Group: rec.autos.4×4 Date: Sat, Jan 6, 2001, 12:54am (EST+5):

I am a supersized woman with large breasts and belly an Love Mconalds
Super Sizers. I wear sports bras so my breasts are really only a large
bump on my belly. Here is the problem I need help with. I drive about 15
miles per year for work 15,000 miles per year to McDonalds and I own a
SUV. I drive in some icy conditions and very afraid of a rollover at
McDonalds parking lot.
I usually extend my seatbelt over my belly and then put the crossover
portion behind me. This is ok if I hit something in the front of the
vehicle like a Tour bus or a Tractor trailer but if I roll I am going to
hit my head on the roof my breast will bounce up and give me BLACK EYES.
I would like to feel more secure at McDonalds parking lot. When I keep
the front part of the belt in front it just slides over my breasts and
belly and trys to rest on my throat an chokes me. When I used to wear
regular bras the belt would hook under my bra and driving to McDonads my
bra would un-snap but I didn’t like that either

Detroit Autoshow Website

September 2nd, 2010

GM’s 2001 autoshow site could show Ford or Daimler a thing or two about
Autoshow Websites. Too much to see to see it all in one sitting.  I’ll
definately hit this site a couple times.  I really like the interactive
maps.  http://www.gm.com/

700R4 To TH350

September 2nd, 2010

I have an 1988 Chevy Blazer with a 5.7L, TH700R4, and NP208 transfer
case, and GM 10 bolts front and rear

I would like to swap in a TH350 from a 1973 Blazer which has a NP203
transfer case, Dana 44 front, GM 12 bolt Rear.

All I want to swap is the transmissions, some say yes, and some say no.

Anyone really know if this is possible?

DEER!!!! (rollover)

September 2nd, 2010

Speaking from experience, there are times when you can avoid a deer and times
you cant.  Why do I say this, because while leaving work one night at dusk, a
white stomach appeared over my windshield and I had ZERO reaction time.  It
simply was there.  In fact, I didn’t even have the time to shut my eyes and
they were filled with powder from the shattered windshield.  I immediately
thought I would be blind, but this was not the case, just shaky nerves and
blurry vision for a few minutes.  But in all honesty, there was NO TIME for
reaction, so no matter what vehicle is you in, sometimes it will not matter.
The Deer jumped over the hood of the car and caved the roof of my Honda Civic
in back over my head.  The broken rear view mirror was in the baby seat. (Thank
goodness Ali was at home with mom)  Very scarey situation!

I will say this:  If I am gonna hit a deer, I would rather hit it in something
substantial like, say,  an Expedition.  Instead of in a Beer can like a small
car!

SUV vs Mini-van rollover?

September 2nd, 2010

The people bashing 4x4s are NEVER gonna win this rool over argument!  What
about vans?  NOBODY on earth is gonna tell me that an explorer is more likely
to roll over than my Areostar!!!!  Any wind at all blows me all over the road
and you can "FEEL" how top heavy they are.  What about mini-vans everyone???
The cry-baby SUV bashers are not saying a word about how easy it would be to
roll a mini van.  So where are the stats on the most popular vehicle catagory
in the last 15yrs?  Anyone care to comment on that?  Hmm?  I gurantee you there
have been van accidents that have not gotten nearly the publicity that the
Explorer has simply because of some stupid tires!

Texas 4×4 camping Help!

September 2nd, 2010

I live in Dallas.
I want to go tent camping in area that is scenic and away from civilization,
river would be nice.
I am self contained do not require hookups.
I have a 4×4 but don’t want any terrain that is to intense.
Willing to drive 3-4 hours to get there.

Anyone know of a place or places that are like this around the North part of
state?

I’m looking to buy a new SUV. 99% of my driving will be on paved roads
in New Jersey.  The Xterra is my number one choice, Either the SE or the
XE with the 3 packages.  For what I have read, you should not use the
part-time 4WD on rain or on road that are not fully cleaned after a snow
(mostly dry road with some patchy ice).

My choices are:

1. Xterra – I Really like the looks and cargo space. Don’t like the gas
mileage but I’m willing to live with it. Will 2-wheel drive mode with
limited rear differential mode handle rain and occasional patch of ice
without problems?

2. Escape/Tribute – I like it, but I cannot get over the shifter on the
steering wheel column. Also, I’m not sure about the reliability…

3. RAV4 – I like the design, but the cargo space is too small.

Any comments? Recommendations?

Thanks,
res

Jeepster??

September 2nd, 2010

The other day, I saw what looked like a monsterous Jeep sitting in a parking
lot.  I figured it was some land rover of sorts but had to go take a look at
it anyhow.  It turned out it was a "Jeepster" and I think it also said
"Commander" on the side.  It was basically a jeep on steroids it looked
like.  had the soft top an everything.
What’s the story on this?  It looked impressive.  Deffinatly had room under
the hood for a powerful engine.  I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
I’ve been trying to find information via YAHOO! but I cant find much at all.
I’m guessing this is a fairly rare vehicle.  Or maybe they just didnt last
long.  This is the first one I’ve ever seen.

Another heater question

September 2nd, 2010

The heater on a 95 Bronco.  Can it be TOO hot?  When I have the thing warmed
up with the heater on I tend to drive with one hand over the vent for one
reason or another.  It seems to be hot enough to make it very uncomfortable
to do this.  Not like its singing the hairs off my hands or anything but I’m
wondering if this is normal or not.  I dont want the heat (which must be
much greater under the dash) to melt anything or put some stress on a part
that does not need it.  If it’s fine then I’m happy with it.

Early Bronco Power Steering

September 2nd, 2010

Does anyone know what year model ford pu’s power steering pumps and boxes
are fittable into a ’69 bronco to convert to power steering?  The kits are
nearly a thousand and it seems to me that a ford pickup rig should do the
same job with some brackets bolted on and maybe a little torch work.

On the other hand I may be wrong.  Let me know if you have done this or know
anyone who has please.

Thanks
