F-250 Manual Tranny Noise

My 1994 F-250 makes a heckuva clank-clank when I shift gears or release
and re-apply power.  Anybody seen (heard) this?  Any suggestions?

Anybody seen (heard) this?  Any suggestions?  It sure is annoying on
    rough roads at low speeds.

I just had my u-joints replaced for a similar problem on my F-150 S-cab 4by.
Noise went away, but now there’s a slight vibration I didn’t have before
(current guess is the new u-joints are not balanced properly, but I’m gonna
drive it a while and see…).

My truck wasn’t clunking so much (classic worn u-joint sound), as it was
making odd rattling noises on accel or decel.

Make sure the bottleneck only works on good product.

I don’t know this car but you should have a look at your universal joints on
the driveshafts REAL SOON. You will be sorry if you dont because you could end
up with a broken drivetrain. It could be something else in the drivetrain but
anyway have a look at it soon.

Take it to Savoies Truck Service or call Chip Savoie 292-6227.  His shop
is at Central and Moon.  They do some of the best truck service in the
    southwest.

The first thing I would do is crawl under the truck (while it’s shut off
and parked on level ground) and check the U-joints.  See if you can move
the driveshaft up and down or side to side at both the rear end and the
transfer case.  If you can, you have a bad U-joint, which is a very simple
fix.  Personally, I wouldn’t even consider having a shop do that simple
of work, but if you must, don’t let them charge you any more than 1 hour
    labor.  It’s only a 15 minute job.

Let us know if it’s not the U-joints.

    Good luck.

Sounds like you may have some slop in your driveline.  U-Joints
are usually the culprit and can be replaced in a short time at
    very little expense.
