Please explain exhaust!!!

Monday, September 6th, 2010

I have a Blazer with the 4.3L V-6. I took the muffler off and was quite
pleased with the sound. Is there any way I can make it even louder? What
would it sound like without the catalytic-converter? Would it be any
louder? Would it be TOO loud? Any other tricks to make it louder?

Opinions needed on light install.

I recently wrecked (not my fault) my ’99 1500 4×4 and had the dealer redo
the front end as a 2000 "Sport" with the painted plastic bumper and grille.
This included the clear quad-beam headlights in place of my fluted
dual-beams. Obviously i dont have the connection for the outer bulb but
could get that from a junkyard. My question is, if I put a 100-150 watt bulb
from a KC Daylighter (the snap in bulb type, not the filament type) in the
outer beam location would the heat discolor or warp the plastic from
occasional off-road use. I usually dont have them on for more than an hour
or so. Wiring and mounting is no problem, I am just worried about heat. The
lenses use to get pretty hot.

Yet another tire

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Here’s yet another tire mfg. Go see the Kombat, comes in nice high ‘n
skinny, 7.50R16 and 9.00R16, specially for those who want a military / retro
look combined with decent (dry) road and mud performance.

Saved up for my suspension lift!

Monday, September 6th, 2010

I’m so excited.
I finally saved up enough for my suspension lift, larger tires and diff.
change.
I had planned on having the work done over the weekend but needed my
vehicle.  It looks like it may be a while before I can handle not having the
vehicle long enough to get the mods done.  I found it’ll be cheaper to have
a 4×4 shop do the lift, a tire shop do the tires and wheeles and a diff
place do the diff swap instead of one place do everything.  I had
orriginally planned on putting on a Rancho lift kit with Rancho ES shocks on
the thing but as I was reading through the E-Zine "off-road.com"
(http://www.off-road.com/chevy/projects/kickin/liftit.html) I found an
article on Rough Country (by Heckthorn) suspension lifts.  They were much
cheaper!  I wrote them an Email questioning them and they told me that just
because they dont charge 15oo for a lift doent mean it’s not good.  I didnt
think they’d say that their competetors make better products at all.
I’m always looking for a deal but I dont want to put anything that’s built
cheap on my car.  Can anyone tell me about these? I’d not be putting it on
myself, it’d all be professional. I’d like something that’s not designed
just for looks.  The most aggressive off-roading I’ve done is in Mojave (so.
cal) out in the mountains.  Hills and big rocks and dirt.

Is the cheaper kit alright in this case?

Prospector Tires

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Hello one and all,

I’m looking at getting some new tires for my Jeep Grand Cherokee. At the
tire dealership here they have these Prospector tires for sale at a nice
cheap price.

I was wondering if they were any good as a A/T tire that the dealership said
they are.

Thanks
