FJ40 exhaust???

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

I am currently rebuiding the engine in my ’78 cruiser, and considering
adding an exhaust header for increaced power and fuel economy.  Which is
better, the 6-into-1 or the 6-into-2-into-1?  Both claim to be superior, is
there any real difference?  Or, should I just keep my stock manifold?
Thanks in advance….

Re: Abnormal tire wear on Toyota 4wd Truck

Don’t know if its typical for all or not but I also have an ’83 and the
front tires wear the same way, and I would also be interested in any
possible cause and solutions.

I have located 2 "Jeep Owners Bible"s by Moses Ludel for $15.
They are at a used book store but these books appear to be new.
The penciled $29.95 is crossed out and $15 is written underneath.
Do I smell a new edition coming???
The store is:  The Book Bin, Corvallis, Oregon, 503-752-0040

Re: need a good place to off road in nyc….

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

You can get a beach permit in Suffolk Co. Which will let you drive your
truck along the beach. Go to Robert Moses State Park and get a permit. It
cost’s 25 a year and there are many beaches you can go on.  You just have
to carry fishing equip. because it’s really a permit to allow you to park
and fish off the shore but you’ll have a blast on the beach…..  TREAD

Replacement parts for rusty 84 K5 blzr

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

I’ve got a somewhat rusted 1984 K5 Blazer. Specifically the
end of the bed at the tailgate attach area. I get nervous
every time I open the tailgate. :-)

Is there a good place to get replacement panels/assemblies
for Chevy trucks? Mailorder addresses/phone #’s would be
appreciated.

Writing an article about the 4×4 net!!!!!

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

My next column in the San Diego Off Road Magazine will be about the
information and assistance that a 4×4 owner and enthusiast can receive
over the internet.

My question to you is; what would you recommend to the first time Net user
who wants info on his sport/hobby? Is this news group all that the Net has
to offer, or are there other areas that should be explored?

I plan on bringing the InterNet experience of 4×4′ing to a completely
naive audience. I want to offer them as many tips as possible and as many
options as possible.

I’ll be using some of my information gathering experiences as examples as
well as some of the stimulating conversations (via e-mail) that I’ve had
on-line.

Any suggestions would be considered. A really great idea could earn you a
credit of mention in the column,
Thanks and See you on the trails,
                                                                Steve

Best lift for Wrangler?

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

My head is spinning with all the options available.  Rancho, Superlift,
Skyjacker, Trail Master and the list goes on….

I just purchased a ’91 Wrangler 4.0 manual for use as my primary vehicle.
I love it so far, but am interested in making it a little more off road
worthy.  I would like to put 33" tires and go with a 3.5" or 4" lift.  My
off road driving will consist of logging roads and stream crossings, so
nothing too demanding.

At this point I am considering BFG 33/12.50R15 AT with Outlaw II wheels,
and changing to 4.10 gears.  In order to clear the tires I’ve got to
decide on a lift system/package.  Any advice?  I am very new to the off
road community, but have been impressed by the wealth of knowledge that is
out there.  Any information, or recommendations one might offer would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Owen
