The gentleman that talk of Red Line is correct. The suggested drain time for Red Line is 15-18 thousand miles. The oil is 100%
synthetic and is made of more sophisticated stocks than Mobile 1 and other equivalents. Red Line recommends changing filters
half way between drains, since dirt and other contaminants are the main culprits with synthetic oils.
It is probably not a good idea to use synthetics on older motors since it is so expensive and will burn away like dollar bills in a fire.
Red Line started out as a racers only oil that was later used in heavy industrial equipment that imposed both high heat and
high loads on oils. Synthetics are also recommended for turbos because of the excessive levels of heat that they create.
Red Line also boasts that their oil sticks to parts more than patroleum oils, which means cold starts are less damaging since
a film of oil is always coating the parts. Patrolium oil tend to drain off the parts more, thus causing more initial wear at startup.
If you want more info on Red Line, send me a message I’ve got brochures, and sell the stuff for $7.75 a quart (retail is around 10
bucks now that the price went up). If you choose synthetic, go with Red Line………….. Scott
